Building off of the One-Page Zines project, I was then tasked with creating a “map” related to my system. rainsongs is an audiovisual map of the progression of a rainstorm, documented through a handmade website that I created using HTML/CSS.

Oftentimes, when I listen to music, it feels like an inner world is wrapping itself around me and placing me in a new environment. A lot of the songs that I enjoy have a sort of rainy quality to them or lead me to visualize a place that includes rain in some shape or form, so this piece is inspired by that feeling. I created the various image collages in Photoshop to visualize each stage’s environment; I wanted the appearance to have a quality similar to the way in which an environment can distort itself and warp around you in dreams. Afterwards, I then made corresponding pieces in Garageband to accompany them, the workspaces of which were converted into ASCII art and used as a part of the backgrounds of each webpage (which were created in Illustrator).
